DERMAPLANING: the new glow treatment you need to know!

February 9, 2022

Others

New to the Gym For Your Skin, dermaplaning is a treatment that gently removes dead skin cells and facial peach fuzz by delicately removing the top layer of skin with a sterile surgical blade. This physical exfoliation stimulates the cell regeneration process, improves skin texture, uniformity, and glow, and allows for better absorption of skin care products. It is also an excellent alternative for sensitive skin to other types of exfoliation. Get to know it better with these ten questions and answers!

1. What are the benefits of dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning has many benefits, including:

› Improved skin texture
› Removal of peach fuzz
› Better absorption of skin care products
› Smoothing of dry, flaky skin
› Accelerated skin cell renewal
› Instant skin radiance
› Better makeup application
› No downtime

2. What skin types can be treated?

Dermaplaning is suitable for all phototypes and skin types except extremely oily skin and patients with active acne outbreaks

3. How does a session work?

The session begins with a double cleanse adapted to the patient’s skin type. The skin is then sanitized with a solution before exfoliation begins with a sterile surgical blade. Once the exfoliation is complete, we proceed with the application of adapted products. Allow approximately 1 hour for a complete treatment.

4. Is it painful?

It is possible to feel a slight tingling during the treatment, but no major discomfort. The sensation is similar to shaving; you can feel the blade pass over your skin, but there is no pain.

5. When do we notice the results?

Just as it is the case for all treatment, results vary from person to person, but the skin is generally brighter immediately after the procedure. The effects are optimal after a series of treatments.

6. Do the hairs grow back thicker or darker?

Absolutely not. Dermaplaning does not change the thickness, color or growth rate of hair.

7. How often can we receive this treatment?

Dermaplaning can be performed every 4 to 6 weeks.

8. Does this treatment make the skin more sensitive to the sun?

As after any exfoliating treatment, the skin will be particularly sensitive to the sun. It will be imperative to apply an SPF 50 sunscreen daily.

9. Are there any side effects?

When performed by a professional, dermaplaning is a low-risk procedure. Potential side effects may include increased skin sensitivity and slight redness. These symptoms usually subside within hours of treatment.

10. Can dermaplaning be combined with other treatments?

The exfoliation performed during dermaplaning allows the products to better penetrate the skin, which increases their effectiveness. It is therefore an ideal treatment to prepare the skin to receive another one and can be combined with several of them. It is recommended, for example, before a SkinCeuticals Facial or a microdermabrasion. It is also particularly beneficial before photorejuvenation because, by removing hair, it allows for better absorption of the pigment found in the hair follicles and reduces the discomfort of the treatment.

TREATMENT COSTS

$195 per full session

$85 when combined with another treatment
