Treatment & Technology

A dermapure physician treating a patient

At our Ste-Foy clinic in Quebec, dermaplaning exfoliates your skin gently and effectively. By using a sterile surgical blade, this treatment removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz, promoting a smoother, brighter complexion.

Dermaplaning improves skincare product absorption, maximizing their benefits. It’s a safe, non-invasive option for sensitive skin, providing an excellent alternative to traditional exfoliation. Refresh and renew your skin with dermaplaning in Quebec Ste-Foy.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is an advanced exfoliation technique that uses a precise medical instrument to gently remove dead skin cells and fine facial hair. This treatment smooths the skin, refines its texture, and enhances the absorption of skincare products while promoting faster cell renewal for an instantly brighter complexion. Suitable for all skin types, dermaplaning also improves makeup application by creating a perfectly smooth surface. Whether performed alone or as an add-on to a facial, it is the key to radiant, healthy-looking skin.

What to Expect

Eliminating superficial impurities and removing all traces of makeup by double cleansing, with a cleanser adapted to the patient's skin type is the first step of the treatment. It will also be necessary to remove the lipidic film from the treated area with a gauze soaked in an alcohol or acetone-based solution to prepare the skin to receive the treatment.

This stage involves scraping the top layer of the skin in the opposite direction of the hair growth with a sterile surgical blade. This step will trigger a cellular regeneration process and allow the products to better penetrate the skin.

Applying an exfoliating treatment will exfoliate the skin thoroughly and prepare it for the treatments that follow. It is possible - and normal - to feel a tingling sensation and warmth at this stage, as the solution begins its exfoliating action.

Allowing the exfoliating treatment to work on your skin will take 2 to 5 minutes. The technician will use a timer and will remain attentive to the visible signs on your skin during the entire time.

Stopping the action of the exfoliating treatment is done by gently passing a gauze soaked in a neutralizing solution over the face. Any sensation of heat will be instantly soothed.

Applying adapted and complementary skin care products (ending with the application of an SPF50 sunscreen) is what completes the treatment. Post-treatment recommendations must also be carefully followed to allow the skin to recover properly.

Treatment Areas for Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is usually performed on the entire face, but it is also possible to treat the skin on the neck in the same session. All skin types and phototypes (even sensitive skin) can be treated with dermaplaning, except for extremely oily skin and patients with active acne breakouts. Men can receive the treatment as long as they are shaved. A session lasts approximately one hour.
