Dr. Cornel Barnard is a family physician who has found a way to combine his passion for aesthetic medicine and long-term family care. Dr. Barnard received a degree in medicine and surgery in 2004 at the University of the Free State in South Africa. He moved to Canada in 2008 for a travel and work experience, fell in love with Canada and its people and the rest as they say, is history. In 2011 he completed a surgical skills course in England to explore his love for surgery and that is where his curiosity in aesthetic medicine was awakened. Not only does Dr. Barnard run a full long term care practice but he is also involved in training UBC family medicine residents and is an assessor for International Medical Students through the Practise Ready program.
When Dr. Barnard is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, 2 children and dog named Cheddar. As a family, they enjoy spending time skiing on the slopes at Sun Peaks as well as on the water on the Little Shuswap Lake, where they live. When he gets some precious free time, he loves running, playing soccer and whatever other sports tickle his interests at the time. Dr. Barnard joined SKIN in 2021 and Sanders Medical Vernon in 2022. Through his work at Skin Kamloops and Sanders Medical Vernon, he is constantly striving for excellence in the field and is committed to delivering the best product available in rejuvenation medicine. He enjoys being a part of a team that stays at the cutting edge of an ever-expanding field, while at the same time, committing to a safe outcome for our patients.
