Aptos Thread Lift West Edmonton

Offered at our Dermapure clinic in West Edmonton, a thread face lift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses fine resorbable threads placed beneath the skin to gently reposition and support facial tissue affected by mild laxity. At our West Edmonton clinic, it is performed with Aptos threads, made from an absorbable copolymer (poly-L-lactide caprolactone) that supports the tissue mechanically and, as it is gradually absorbed, encourages the skin’s own collagen production.

A thread face lift is most often considered by adults with early to moderate sagging who would like to soften jowls, refine the jawline or support the lower face without surgery. Made from a copolymer that the body resorbs gradually, Aptos threads are intended to support a progressive collagen response, with results that typically last around one to two years and vary from person to person. It can be planned on its own or alongside other in-clinic options such as dermal fillers, depending on your goals and anatomy.

Because every patient’s facial anatomy, goals and medical history are different, a thread face lift at our Dermapure clinic in West Edmonton always begins with a personalized consultation with a physician or healthcare professional. Together, you will assess whether a thread face lift is the most appropriate option for you and discuss a realistic treatment plan, the expected results and the possible side effects.

What to expect during your session

Step 1
Personal assessment

You meet with a physician or healthcare professional who reviews your medical history, examines your facial anatomy and discusses your goals to determine whether a thread face lift is the right option for you.

Step 2
Baseline photography

Reference photos are added to your patient profile so your team can plan the treatment and follow your progress over time.

Step 3
Review and consent

Before the procedure, your physician or healthcare professional reviews what to expect, the possible side effects and the consent form, and answers any questions you have.

Step 4
Treatment

The procedure is performed in office under local anesthetic and usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes. The threads are introduced through a fine needle or cannula, then positioned to gently reposition and support the treatment area. Once in place, the threads create an immediate supporting effect, while the gradual collagen response develops over the following weeks.

Follow-up and maintenance

Results appear gradually as the threads support the tissue and the collagen response develops, and they typically last around one to two years. Because this varies from person to person, a follow-up or maintenance session may be considered after about 12 months, depending on how your skin responds and your goals. Your physician or healthcare professional will discuss a realistic timeline with you.

Side Effects & Contraindications

What to expect afterward: common effects are temporary and include bruising, swelling, tenderness and, at times, minor dimpling or slight asymmetry at the treated area, usually resolving within a few days to about two weeks. Less common effects include infection, movement or partial extrusion of a thread, persistent asymmetry or palpable nodules.

A thread face lift may not be suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active infection or inflammation at the treatment site, with autoimmune or connective-tissue conditions, with a bleeding disorder or the use of blood-thinning medication, or with a known hypersensitivity to the thread material. Your physician or healthcare professional reviews your medical history to confirm whether the procedure is appropriate for you.

In the week before your appointment, and unless your physician or healthcare professional advises otherwise, it is generally recommended to avoid blood-thinning medication and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, and to avoid alcohol the night before, as these can increase the likelihood of bruising.
