Muscle Stimulation
Strengthening, toning and building muscle through targeted stimulation
Muscle stimulation treatments strengthen, tone and build muscle by triggering muscle contractions that go beyond what you can achieve through exercise alone. At Dermapure, these non-invasive treatments use two main technologies, HIFEM and EMS, to support muscle definition on the body and, in some cases, the pelvic floor. Every treatment begins with a personalized consultation with our team to confirm whether it suits your goals and the area you would like to treat.
HIFEM (High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic)
HIFEM uses focused electromagnetic energy to trigger supramaximal muscle contractions, meaning contractions far stronger than those you can produce voluntarily. A single session prompts thousands of these contractions, encouraging the muscle to strengthen and tone over a series of treatments.
HIFEM Treatments
EMSculpt
EMSculpt uses HIFEM energy to create intense muscle contractions that help build and tone muscle in areas such as the abdomen and buttocks, in a non-invasive session with no downtime.
EMSculpt NEO
EMSculpt NEO combines HIFEM energy with radiofrequency in a single treatment, working on muscle and fat at the same time: the radiofrequency warms the tissue while the electromagnetic energy drives the muscle contractions. It is used for body contouring on areas such as the abdomen.
Emsella
Emsella is a HIFEM treatment delivered through a chair, designed to stimulate and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles in both women and men. These muscles can weaken over time for several reasons, including childbirth, hormonal changes, prostate surgery or simply age. You remain seated and fully clothed throughout the session.
EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation)
EMS uses gentle electrical impulses, delivered through pads placed on the skin, to make the muscles contract. By repeating these contractions, EMS helps tone and strengthen the targeted muscles over a series of sessions.
EMS Treatments
TruSculpt Flex
TruSculpt Flex uses electrical muscle stimulation with selectable modes (such as preparation, toning and sculpting) to strengthen, firm and tone muscles in areas such as the abdomen, buttocks, thighs and arms. The approach is adapted to your fitness level and your goals.
Electone
Electone uses a new generation of EMS technology delivered through conductive pads, with selectable modes (drain, tone and sculpt) to support muscle tone and a more defined silhouette. The mode is selected according to the treatment plan established with your specialist.
Follow-up and Maintenance
Muscle stimulation results build progressively over a series of sessions, with the number and spacing tailored to the treatment and your goals; many plans involve several sessions over a few weeks. Results vary from person to person and, as with exercise, are best maintained with periodic sessions and an active lifestyle. Your specialist will build a personalized plan with you.
Side Effects & Contraindications
Muscle stimulation is generally well tolerated, and most effects are mild and temporary. Common reactions include muscle soreness similar to the feeling after a workout, along with mild redness, tingling or muscle fatigue, which usually settle within a day or two. Less frequently, a temporary skin reaction can occur, and with radiofrequency-based treatment such as EMSculpt NEO, rarely a superficial burn. These treatments are generally not appropriate during pregnancy, or for people with an implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker, or with metal implants in the treatment area, because of the electromagnetic or electrical energy. Pelvic floor treatment has its own specific considerations. During your consultation, your specialist will review your medical history and any contraindications with you, and let you know what to expect after treatment and when to reach out.
