Radiofrequency
Firming the skin and refining contours with controlled heat
Radiofrequency (RF) treatments use controlled heat to stimulate your skin's natural collagen production, helping to firm the skin, smooth its texture and refine body contours. At Dermapure, RF comes in three main forms: monopolar, multipolar and fractional. It belongs to the energy-based pillar of our Triangle of Care and is often planned alongside the two others, injectables and medical-grade skincare, within a broader treatment plan. Every treatment begins with a personalized consultation with our team to assess which approach suits your skin and your goals.
How Radiofrequency Works
Radiofrequency sends an electromagnetic wave through the skin. As the wave meets the natural resistance of the tissue, it makes the molecules vibrate, and that vibration generates heat. When the deeper layers reach the right temperature, existing collagen fibres tighten. The heat also stimulates the skin to produce new collagen and elastin, a renewal process that continues over the weeks and months following treatment. And because the heat builds from within rather than acting on the surface, treatments are generally comfortable and suitable for a wide range of skin types, with most involving little to no downtime.
What Radiofrequency Can Address
Radiofrequency treatments are most often considered by patients who would like to firm lax or sagging skin on the face, neck or body, smooth the appearance of cellulite, improve skin texture or refine their contours. Results develop gradually as collagen rebuilds; depending on the treatment, a single session or a series may be recommended.
Monopolar RF
Monopolar radiofrequency uses a single electrode in the applicator: the energy enters the skin at one point and travels through the tissue toward a return pad, which lets the heat reach the deepest layers. It is the form of RF generally chosen when deeper tightening is the goal.
Multipolar RF
Multipolar radiofrequency uses several electrodes placed close together in the same applicator: the energy simply travels between them, so the heat stays closer to the surface and spreads evenly, making the treatment particularly comfortable. Devices in this family often combine RF with other energies, such as pulsed electromagnetic fields, infrared light or pressure energy.
Fractional RF
Fractional radiofrequency delivers the energy through a grid of micro-zones rather than heating the whole surface: only a fraction of the skin is treated at a time, while the surrounding tissue stays intact and supports recovery.
