AviClear Pointe-Claire

AviClear is a laser treatment for acne that uses a targeted wavelength of light to reach the skin’s sebaceous (oil) glands, which play a central role in how breakouts form. It is typically delivered over a series of sessions.

Because every patient’s skin, concerns and medical history are different, AviClear at our Dermapure Pointe-Claire clinic always begins with a personalized consultation. Together with your specialist, you will assess whether AviClear is the most appropriate option for your skin and discuss a realistic treatment plan, the expected results and the possible side effects. What to Expect During Your Session

Step 1
Taking of photos
Each treatment begins with the taking of photos. This step is essential to document the progress of the results.
Step 2
Cleaning of the skin
All traces of makeup and impurities are removed with a cleansing lotion. The skin is then carefully sanitized.
Step 3
Hydration of the skin
Water compresses are applied to the face to keep the skin damp. This process is repeated throughout the treatment.
Step 4
Treatment
An applicator from which the laser pulses are emitted is placed in contact with the skin. The technology is equipped with a cooling system to maintain skin temperature and ensure a comfortable experience. The treatment does not require any sedation or anaesthetic cream.
Step 5
Post treatment
The treatment requires minimal downtime. The initial redness and warmth almost always subside within 24-48 hours, and most patients return to their activities the next day. When treating the sebaceous gland, it is normal to have a transient acne flare-up about 2 weeks after treatment.

Follow-Up & Maintenance

Three sessions, four weeks apart, are generally recommended. Results are long-lasting and additional treatments are rarely needed. In clinical studies, 80% of participants saw their acne decrease at least by half. 87% of participants were satisfied or very satisfied with the results one month after the last treatment.

Contraindications

AviClear is contraindicated in pregnant women or in patients with skin cancer. Special precautions should also be taken in nursing mothers. Patients taking prescription medications such as Accutane may need to defer treatment. Each case is evaluated individually by a Dermapure physician.
