Vascular Lasers Kerrisdale
Vascular laser treatment is a non-invasive procedure that uses targeted light energy to address visible blood vessels, persistent redness, rosacea, ruby angiomas and certain pigment irregularities. The light is absorbed by hemoglobin within the targeted vessels, allowing them to be selectively treated while leaving the surrounding skin intact. The face is the most commonly treated area, though the treatment can also be applied to other parts of the body. A series of 2 to 5 sessions spaced at least one month apart is typically recommended, with yearly maintenance to help sustain results.
Because every patient's skin, goals and medical history are different, vascular laser treatment at our Dermapure Kerrisdale clinic always begins with a personalized consultation with our team. Together, you will discuss the areas you would like to address, determine which approach is best suited to your skin type and profile, what a realistic treatment plan could look like and the possible side effects, which will be reviewed in detail during your consultation. Cleaning and Application of Specialty Products
Removing the gel-when applicable-and cleaning the skin signals the end of a session. To calm the heat sensation and to protect the skin, a moisturizer is carefully applied to the entire treatment area, followed by a mineral sunscreen. Occasionally, and at the discretion of staff, skin may be left in the open air to recover, which is most often the case for the treatment of pigment spots.
Follow-Up & Maintenance
It normally takes between 2 and 5 sessions with minimum one-month intervals to see optimal results, depending on your skin’s initial condition. This is due to your skin’s built-in memory-it remembers lesions as far back as 10 years. It is therefore important to combine the therapeutic effects of light to help improve your complexion and to significantly correct spots. Subsequently, a light yearly maintenance session will ensure that your results are preserved over time.
Contraindications
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should postpone this type of treatment, as well as anyone who has been exposed to sunlight in the months before or after each session. Sunbeds/tanning booths, the use of self-tanning products and photo-sensitizing medication are all forbidden.
