Your Body’s Healing Power
Offered at your clinic

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) Vancouver

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF), offered at our Vancouver clinics, relies on healing components already present in your blood. A small sample is spun slowly, without anticoagulants or additives, to concentrate platelets, white blood cells and growth factors that then form a soft fibrin matrix. Once delivered through fine injections or microneedling, PRF releases these growth factors over several days, helping stimulate collagen production and skin repair.

PRF is most often considered by patients who would like to address fine lines, acne scars or under-eye hollows, as well as areas of the scalp where hair is thinning. Because new collagen builds gradually, changes in texture, tone and firmness appear over the following weeks, and results vary from person to person. A series of 2 to 4 sessions spaced several weeks apart is common, sometimes planned alongside other in-clinic treatments such as RF microneedling or dermal fillers within a broader treatment plan.

Because every patient’s skin, goals and medical history are different, Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) at our clinics in Vancouver always begins with a personalized consultation with a physician or healthcare professional. Together, you will assess whether PRF is the most appropriate option for you and discuss the areas to treat, a realistic treatment plan, the expected results, the recovery and the possible side effects. How it works

After a small blood draw, your sample is placed in a centrifuge that spins slowly. This gentle process separates and concentrates the most healing parts of your blood such as platelets, white blood cells and growth factors into what we call platelet-rich fibrin (PRF). This golden, gel-like substance is then applied to the skin using microneedling or small injections.

Once under the skin, PRF slowly releases natural growth factors over several days. These growth factors help boost collagen production, improve blood flow and encourage your skin cells to repair and renew themselves. The result is smoother, firmer and more even-looking skin that improves gradually and naturally over time.

Compared to platelet-rich plasma (PRP), PRF works more slowly but lasts longer. It does not contain any additives or anticoagulants, which allows it to work in harmony with your body for soft and natural-looking results.

What to Expect During Your Session

Step 1
Personalized Consultation

Your journey begins with a one-on-one consultation with a professional. During this visit, your skin or scalp will be assessed, your goals will be discussed, and your provider will determine whether PRF is the most suitable treatment for your needs. This step ensures a personalized, medically guided approach tailored to your concerns.

Step 2
Pre-Treatment Photography
Photos of the treatment area may be taken and added to your file. These images help document your baseline and allow you to track your progress over time.
Step 3
Blood Collection & PRF Preparation
A small blood sample is drawn and placed in a centrifuge that spins at a controlled, low speed. This process isolates the fibrin-rich layer, which contains high concentrations of platelets, white blood cells and growth factors.
Step 4
Skin Cleansing & Disinfection
Before application, the targeted area is cleansed and disinfected to ensure a safe and sterile treatment environment.
Step 5
PRF Application
The PRF is applied to the skin using fine injections or microneedling, depending on the indication and area being treated. This allows the active components to penetrate more effectively and stimulate tissue regeneration.

Follow-Up & Maintenance

PRF delivers progressive and long-lasting results. In most cases, a series of 2 to 4 sessions spaced several weeks apart is recommended to activate optimal skin or hair regeneration. Your provider will determine the ideal number and frequency of sessions based on your skin condition and goals. To enhance outcomes, PRF can be combined with other aesthetic treatments such as RF microneedling or dermal fillers. These combinations can support deeper collagen stimulation and restore volume more effectively. Your provider will tailor a treatment plan that aligns with your skin’s needs and long-term objectives.

Contraindications

PRF is a safe treatment derived from your own blood, but it may not be suitable for everyone. Individuals with certain medical conditions or blood disorders may not be eligible for this procedure. Contraindications may include active infections or inflammatory skin conditions in the treatment area, blood clotting disorders or anticoagulant therapy, autoimmune diseases affecting skin healing and pregnancy or breastfeeding. During your consultation, your provider will review your medical history to ensure that PRF is appropriate and safe for you.
