Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) Edmonton South
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is an advanced regenerative treatment that uses a concentrated solution derived from your own blood to naturally support skin health and hair restoration. After a simple blood draw and gentle centrifugation, a fibrin matrix rich in platelets, white blood cells and growth factors is applied to the skin or scalp through microinjections or microneedling-assisted application, where it gradually releases growth factors to support tissue regeneration.
Because every patient's skin, scalp, goals and medical history are different, Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) at our South Edmonton clinic always begins with a personalized consultation with a physician or healthcare professional. Together, you will assess whether PRF is the most appropriate option for you and discuss what a realistic treatment plan could look like, the expected results and the possible side effects, which will be reviewed in detail during your consultation. How it works
After a small blood draw, your sample is placed in a centrifuge that spins slowly. This gentle process separates and concentrates the most healing parts of your blood such as platelets, white blood cells and growth factors into what we call platelet-rich fibrin (PRF). This golden, gel-like substance is then applied to the skin using microneedling or small injections.
Once under the skin, PRF slowly releases natural growth factors over several days. These growth factors help boost collagen production, improve blood flow and encourage your skin cells to repair and renew themselves. The result is smoother, firmer and more even-looking skin that improves gradually and naturally over time.
Compared to platelet-rich plasma (PRP), PRF works more slowly but lasts longer. It does not contain any additives or anticoagulants, which allows it to work in harmony with your body for soft and natural-looking results.

Follow-Up & Maintenance
PRF delivers progressive and long-lasting results. In most cases, a series of 2 to 4 sessions spaced several weeks apart is recommended to activate optimal skin or hair regeneration. Your provider will determine the ideal number and frequency of sessions based on your skin condition and goals. To enhance outcomes, PRF can be combined with other aesthetic treatments such as RF microneedling or dermal fillers. These combinations can support deeper collagen stimulation and restore volume more effectively. Your provider will tailor a treatment plan that aligns with your skin’s needs and long-term objectives.
Contraindications
PRF is a safe treatment derived from your own blood, but it may not be suitable for everyone. Individuals with certain medical conditions or blood disorders may not be eligible for this procedure. Contraindications may include active infections or inflammatory skin conditions in the treatment area, blood clotting disorders or anticoagulant therapy, autoimmune diseases affecting skin healing and pregnancy or breastfeeding. During your consultation, your provider will review your medical history to ensure that PRF is appropriate and safe for you.
