Acne Scar Treatments Vancouver

A Clear Plan for Smoother-Looking Skin

Once a breakout heals, it can leave two kinds of marks: true scars, which form small dips or raised areas, and red or brown marks that change only the colour of the skin. At our clinics in Vancouver, a physician or healthcare professional first identifies which types you have and how deep they go, then builds a personalized plan around what they find. Depending on your skin, it may include microneedling, fractional lasers or chemical peels to gradually improve the look of your skin's texture and tone.

Why Every Acne Scar Looks Different

Two people can have the same kind of breakout and end up with very different marks. What remains depends on how deep the breakout's inflammation reached and on how your skin rebuilt itself afterwards. Some marks change the surface of the skin, others change only its colour, and many faces show a mix of both. Knowing which ones you have allows a treatment plan to address each of them properly.

Atrophic Scars

The dermis is the deeper layer of the skin that holds most of its collagen. When a breakout reaches this layer, inflammation breaks down some of that collagen. If the skin does not rebuild enough to replace what was lost, the surface sinks below the surrounding skin, creating an atrophic scar, the most common type of acne scar. Ice pick scars are narrow and deep, boxcar scars are wider with sharp edges, and rolling scars are broad and shallow, caused by fibrous bands pulling the skin downward. These depressions often stand out more under side lighting because they create shadows.

Hypertrophic Scars and Keloids

Healing can also go the other way. When the skin produces more collagen than the area needs, the excess builds up into a firm, raised scar. Unlike atrophic scars, these rise above the surrounding skin and may develop after deeper, inflamed breakouts. A hypertrophic scar stays within the borders of the original blemish and may partly flatten over time, while a keloid grows beyond those borders and may return after treatment. Raised acne scars tend to appear on the jawline, chest, back and shoulders. Keloids in particular run in families and are more common on darker skin tones.

Red and Brown Marks

Not every mark left by acne is a true scar. Inflammation can change skin colour without altering its structure. When small blood vessels stay widened after a breakout, a flat pink or red mark remains, called post-inflammatory erythema. When inflammation stimulates melanocytes, extra melanin leaves a brown or greyish mark, called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Brown marks are often more pronounced and slower to fade on darker skin tones. In Vancouver, grey weather can make sunscreen feel optional, yet UVA rays still penetrate cloud cover. Sun exposure can darken these marks and prolong their appearance, making daily sun protection important year-round.

Personalized treatments for you.

Clear + Brilliant and Perméa Vancouver
Clear + Brilliant and Perméa is a non-ablative fractional mini laser treatment offered at our clinics in Vancouver. The system features two wavelengths, 1440 nm for the standard Clear + Brilliant mode and 1927 nm for the Perméa mode, both creating controlled subcutaneous micro-perforations to support skin renewal and stimulate collagen production.

RF Microneedling Vancouver
RF microneedling is a non-surgical skin renewal treatment offered at our clinics in Vancouver. It combines fine medical needles that create controlled micro-perforations in the skin with radiofrequency energy delivered through the needles, supporting collagen and elastin production in the deeper layers of the dermis.

Dermal Fillers Vancouver
Dermal fillers are a versatile non-surgical injectable treatment offered at our clinics in Vancouver. They use hyaluronic acid–based products to replace the natural volume that diminishes with age, hydrate the skin from within, refine facial contours and restore overall harmony to the features.

Fractional Lasers Vancouver
Fractional lasers are a category of non-surgical laser treatments offered at our clinics in Vancouver. They create controlled columns of micro-injury in the skin while leaving healthy tissue between treatment points, triggering the body’s natural repair response and supporting collagen production in the deeper layers.

Microneedling Vancouver
Microneedling is a collagen-stimulating treatment offered at our clinics in Vancouver. It uses fine medical needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin, triggering the body’s natural repair response and supporting the production of collagen and elastin in the deeper layers.

PicoSure Laser Vancouver
PicoSure Laser is a non-invasive picosecond laser treatment offered at our clinics in Vancouver. It delivers extremely short bursts of energy in trillionths of a second to fragment pigment and stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process, with less reliance on heat than traditional thermal lasers.

Plasma Vancouver
Plasma fibroblast therapy is a non-surgical skin-tightening treatment offered at our clinics in Vancouver. It uses a specialized plasma pen to deliver precise micro-impulses just above the skin surface, creating controlled micro-lesions that activate fibroblast cells and the body’s natural tissue regeneration response.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Vancouver
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a regenerative non-surgical treatment offered at our clinics in Vancouver. It uses platelets concentrated from your own blood in-clinic and delivered into the skin through microinjections, microneedling-assisted application or other targeted delivery methods, depending on the treatment plan.

Radiesse Vancouver
Radiesse is a biostimulator injectable treatment offered at our clinics in Vancouver. Its formulation combines calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel carrier, providing volume on injection while gradually supporting the body’s natural collagen production over the months following the treatment.

Sculptra Vancouver
Sculptra is a regenerative injectable treatment offered at our clinics in Vancouver. Its active ingredient is poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible substance that gradually stimulates the body’s own collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin over several months.

Vascular Lasers Vancouver
Vascular lasers are a category of non-invasive laser treatments offered at our clinics in Vancouver. They deliver targeted light energy at wavelengths preferentially absorbed by haemoglobin in the small visible vessels at the surface of the skin, gradually fading those vessels while preserving the surrounding tissue.

Vbeam Laser Vancouver
Vbeam is a non-invasive laser treatment offered at our Dermapure clinics in Vancouver. This pulsed dye laser uses targeted light energy to treat visible blood vessels and persistent skin redness. By directing controlled heat toward the blood vessels beneath the skin’s surface, Vbeam may help reduce vascular concerns and improve the appearance of uneven skin tone while minimizing the impact on surrounding tissue.

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) Vancouver
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF), offered at our Vancouver clinics, relies on healing components already present in your blood. A small sample is spun slowly, without anticoagulants or additives, to concentrate platelets, white blood cells and growth factors that then form a soft fibrin matrix. Once delivered through fine injections or microneedling, PRF releases these growth factors over several days, helping stimulate collagen production and skin repair.

Morpheus8 Vancouver
Morpheus8 is a non-surgical treatment that combines microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy to improve the skin's texture and tone. This minimally invasive treatment stimulates your skin's natural collagen and elastin, helping to soften fine lines and wrinkles, refine uneven tone and enlarged pores, and improve the appearance of acne scars and stretch marks. By heating the deeper layers of the skin, it also helps firm areas of mild laxity and can subtly refine fullness around the jawline and under the chin.

Laser Genesis Vancouver
During the Laser Genesis procedure, the laser delivers precise heat to the dermis, the layer of skin just below the surface. This gentle heating stimulates the production of collagen, a key protein that helps maintain skin elasticity and firmness. The process also targets dilated capillaries, which can cause redness and uneven skin tone, helping to reduce these visible signs.

TCA Chemical Peel Vancouver
Reveal clearer, brighter-looking skin with the TCA Peel. The treatment may help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, including age and brown spots, for a more even-looking skin tone. It also targets fine lines and wrinkles while improving overall skin texture and supporting collagen production. Over time, skin can look smoother, refreshed, and more radiant, with less visible surface imperfections.

Plan Your Acne Scar Care in Vancouver

Choosing the right approach for acne scars starts with assessing their type, depth and any associated colour changes. If breakouts are still active, controlling them comes first to help prevent new scars. During a consultation at one of our Vancouver clinics, a physician or healthcare professional examines your skin and discusses your concerns and goals. Together, you develop a personalized plan to gradually improve the appearance of your skin’s texture and tone.
