    Dermapure

    Treatment & Technology

Dermaplaning removes dead skin cells and facial peach fuzz by gently removing the top layer of skin with a sterile surgical blade. This mechanical exfoliation stimulates the cell regeneration process, improves skin texture, complexion, and glow, and allows for better absorption of skin care products. It is also an excellent alternative for sensitive skin to other types of exfoliations.

    Treatment areas for dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is usually performed on the entire face, but it is also possible to treat the skin on the neck in the same session. All skin types and phototypes (even sensitive skin) can be treated with dermaplaning, except for extremely oily skin and patients with active acne breakouts. Men can receive the treatment as long as they are shaved. A session lasts approximately one hour.

    Questions?

    Thorough skin cleansing

Eliminating superficial impurities and removing all traces of makeup by double cleansing, with a cleanser adapted to the patient’s skin type is the first step of the treatment. It will also be necessary to remove the lipidic film from the treated area with a gauze soaked in an alcohol or acetone-based solution to prepare the skin to receive the treatment.

    Mechanical exfoliation

This stage involves scraping the top layer of the skin in the opposite direction of the hair growth with a sterile surgical blade. This step will trigger a cellular regeneration process and allow the products to better penetrate the skin.

    Application of an exfoliating treatment

Applying an exfoliating treatment will exfoliate the skin thoroughly and prepare it for the treatments that follow. It is possible – and normal – to feel a tingling sensation and warmth at this stage, as the solution begins its exfoliating action.

    Reaction time

Allowing the exfoliating treatment to work on your skin will take 2 to 5 minutes. The technician will use a timer and will remain attentive to the visible signs on your skin during the entire time.

    Neutralizing the exfoliating treatment

Stopping the action of the exfoliating treatment is done by gently passing a gauze soaked in a neutralizing solution over the face. Any sensation of heat will be instantly soothed.

Application of appropriate skin care products

Applying adapted and complementary skin care products (ending with the application of an SPF50 sunscreen) is what completes the treatment. Post-treatment recommendations must also be carefully followed to allow the skin to recover properly.

    Follow-up and maintenance

While the skin is generally brighter immediately after a dermaplaning session, the effects are optimal after a series of treatments at 4-to-6-week intervals. The exfoliation achieved with dermaplaning allows products to better penetrate the skin, which increases their effectiveness making it an ideal option to prepare the skin to receive another treatment. Dermaplaning can be combined with many of the treatments available at Dermapure and is recommended, for example, before a SkinCeuticals Facial or photorejuvenation. Ask your consultant about the ideal combination for your skin.

    Contraindications

Patients with active acne outbreaks, extremely oily skin or solar erythema should not receive this treatment.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of dermaplaning?

Among the many benefits of dermaplaning are improved skin texture, elimination of peach fuzz, instant skin radiance, better absorption of topical skin care products and more even application of makeup.

What skin types can be treated?

Dermaplaning is suitable for all phototypes and skin types except extremely oily skin and patients with active acne outbreaks.

    How does a session work?

The session begins with a double cleanse adapted to the patient’s skin type. The skin is then sanitized with a solution before exfoliation begins with a sterile surgical blade. Once the exfoliation is complete, we proceed with the application of adapted and complementary products. Allow approximately 1 hour for a complete treatment.

    Is it painful?

The sensation is similar to shaving; you can feel the blade pass over your skin, but there is no pain.

When do we notice the results?

The skin is generally brighter immediately after the procedure. The effects are optimal after a series of treatments.

Do the hairs grow back thicker or darker?

Absolutely not. The procedure does not change the thickness, color, or growth rate of hair.

How often can we receive this treatment?

Dermaplaning can be performed every 4 to 6 weeks.

    Are there any side effects?

When performed by a professional, Dermaplaning is a low-risk procedure. Potential side effects may include increased skin sensitivity and slight redness. These symptoms usually subside within hours of treatment.

Can dermaplaning be combined with other treatments?

Exfoliation with Dermaplaning allows products to better penetrate the skin, which increases their effectiveness. It is an ideal treatment to prepare the skin to receive another treatment and can be combined with several of them. It is recommended, for example, before a SkinCeuticals Facial or photorejuvenation.
