Body skin laxity

What is it ?

Skin laxity affects several areas of the body. Whether it is the arms, abdomen, sides, knees, thighs or buttocks, over time and with certain lifestyle habits, the skin loses its elasticity, volume and density.

What are the causes?

Bad lifestyle habits

Tobacco and/or alcohol use, stress, lack of physical exercise, a diet rich in sugar...As we know, lifestyle habits have a direct impact on our health, but also on that of our skin. In order to promote the production of collagen and elastin and to allow our skin to better protect itself against external aggressors (UV rays, wind, pollution...), it is essential to pay particular attention to our lifestyle!

Weight fluctuations

During rapid weight gain or loss, such as during dieting or pregnancy, the skin’s elastic fibres are stretched and then rapidly released. The skin loses its firmness and becomes visibly less toned and firm.

Hormonal changes

Adequate levels of estrogens, testosterone and progesterone, among others, are necessary for proper tissue function. A dysfunction or imbalance in the levels of these hormones increases dehydration of the skin and therefore the loss of tone.

Sun exposure

Exposure to the sun, especially if not accompanied by UV protection, leads to an increase in melanin production, a reduction in collagen and elastin production, a thickening of certain areas of the skin and clearly promotes skin dryness. Gradually, the structure of the skin changes and it becomes visibly less firm.
