    Personalized Assessment

Establishing your expectations and assessing the condition of your skin are the important first steps for beginning your injection treatment. Individual aging characteristics and certain external factors will influence the choice of treatment, overall cost, and the duration of effects. A pre-treatment assessment helps clarify these considerations.

    Take Pictures

Pictures taken before the procedure provide a better view and understanding of the areas to be treated, and can be consulted when discussing specific goals with the physician. When compared to your “After” pictures, they are an effective way to track treatment results over time.

Personalized Muscle Diagnosis by the Physician

The injection specialist first conducts a personalized assessment of your facial anatomy and marks the exact injection points with a white makeup pencil. You will be asked to frown, raise your eyebrows, and smile widely to help determine the strength of your facial muscles and to identify the best treatment for achieving optimal results.

    Neuromodulator injections

The procedure lasts only a few minutes. No anesthesia is needed since injections are made with a small-gauge needle that minimizes any discomfort. Using the marked points as a guide, the physician proceeds with injections and determines the minimum amounts needed to achieve the desired effect.

Each person is unique and we are here to advise you. It is free.

    Cost of treatment

    FROM $9,35 PER UNIT
    (PRICES VARY BY LOCATION)

The price of neuromodulators is priced per unit and not per syringe, as is the case with dermal fillers. The actual number of units required varies depending on the treatment area and the strength of the targeted muscles.

    Follow-up and maintenance

To maintain results, we recommend that you repeat the procedure every 3 to 6 months. With regular treatments, the frequency and amount of product needed diminish over time. Touch-ups may be required following the procedure.

    Contraindications

Women who are pregnant or nursing should postpone this procedure. Individuals with certain neuromuscular disorders should not use this type of injectable.
We recommend that you avoid aspirin or any other medications containing aspirin one week prior to your scheduled treatment.

    Frequently asked questions

    What are neuromodulators?

Neuromodulators temporarily relax facial muscles that are responsible for creating dynamic fine lines and wrinkles. The muscle relaxes and the communication between the nerve and the muscle is blocked, limiting the contraction. The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles gradually fades resulting in a more youthful look.

Due to Health Canada regulations, we cannot state the names of the neuromodulators we use at Dermapure.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on the area(s) being treated, the appointment time is quick, lasting 15 to 30 minutes. A consultation must be planned prior to the first treatment at Dermapure.

    Are neuromodulator injections safe?

Neuromodulator injections are safe if the treatment is performed by one of our experienced medical experts with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy. Results are temporary in nature.

    Do neuromodulators injections hurt?

We take patient comfort seriously at Dermapure. Most patients consider this treatment painless, as we use the smallest needle size available for maximum comfort. The sensation is comparable to a really light pinch and will last only a fraction of a second. We pre-ice the treatment area and we have a variety of ‘distraction devices’ available to you.

    When will I see results?

Most patients begin to notice results within 3 to 5 days following the treatment*. Maximum results may be noticed within 14 days following the treatment.

    *Individual results may vary.

    How long do results last?

For most patients, the results can last 3 to 6 months*. It is recommended to repeat the treatment every 3 to 6 months to maintain optimal results.

    *Individual results may vary.

What factors can impact the results?

Multiple factors can impact the results including age, facial symmetry, history of previous treatment(s), lifestyle, sun exposure and diet.

How long before I can get back to my normal activities?

Most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment, although it is possible to experience temporary redness, bruising or minor swelling of the treated area in the 24 to 48 hours following the treatment. Intense physical activity should be avoided.

    What areas can be treated?

The most popular treatment areas for neuromodulators are frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet.

How much does the treatment cost?

The cost per treatment varies by product, location and desired results. Our experts will recommend a product that is suitable for your needs in order to provide safe, natural and long-lasting results that meet your highest expectations.

What is the difference between dermal fillers and neuromodulators?

Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a derivative of one of the body’s natural sugars, and can be used to create volume in different areas of the face and hands. The product can absorb up to ten thousand times it’s weight in water, like a real sponge! Dermal fillers are recommended to rehydrate and balance dermal volume and are ideal to plump lips, fill deep wrinkles or other areas where volume loss is noticed.

Neuromodulators temporarily relax specific muscles by blocking nerve impulses. Dynamic wrinkles and lines that appear as a result of these muscles contracting will gradually fade. Neuromodulators do not restore lost volume or fill deep wrinkles. Therefore, you can combine neuromodulators with dermal fillers to complement your results.
