Treatment & Technology

Traitement Lasers Vasculaires

The vascular laser treatment is offered at several Dermapure medical aesthetic clinics across the Montreal region. This targeted, non-invasive solution uses advanced laser technologies to visibly reduce redness, broken capillaries, and certain pigment concerns.

Vascular lasers work by directing concentrated light energy at hemoglobin, the pigment found in blood. The energy is absorbed and converted into heat, allowing visible blood vessels to be gently and selectively broken down without damaging the surrounding skin. Depending on the laser settings used, the treatment can also help soften the look of scars and restore overall skin uniformity and suppleness.

The procedure is typically painless and does not require downtime. Temporary redness, mild swelling, or darkening of treated spots may occur but resolve naturally within a few hours or days. While some conditions like cherry angiomas may be treated in one visit, multiple sessions are often needed to calm rosacea, even out pigmentation, and maintain a clear, balanced complexion over time. A personalized follow-up plan and daily sun protection are key to preserving long-term results.

Treatable Areas

The above-mentioned conditions primarily affect the face and the small applicator tip on the vascular lasers facilitates access to the most sensitive areas such as the nose. This being said, we are usually able to treat spots located anywhere on the body.

Please note that some of these lasers are not suitable for darker skin types.

Preliminary Skin Cleansing

Protective Eyewear

Wearing protective eyewear or, on occasion, protective eye shells, will shield your eyes from light beams. During a session, it is normal to remark several flashes of light. With proper protection, however, your eyes have nothing to fear during this perfectly safe treatment.

Application of a Protective Gel

Prior to treatment, a protective aqueous gel is applied over the entire skin surface of the treatment area for better heat distribution and to make the treatment more comfortable. This is not required for the treatment of pigment spots; the specific parameters for this treatment allow medical staff to dry treat the targeted area without risk.

Setting Parameters

Determining the precise treatment parameters will ensure treatment success. Every patient is different and every condition-vascular or pigmentary-must be treated differently depending on its location, size and colour. Staff must therefore consider several factors that are unique to you and which will evolve over the course of your sessions.

Delivery of Light

Feeling the laser’s light on your skin for the first time can be a little startling! Depending on the technology used, the sensation can be one of slight pinching, or at times it may feel like concentrated heat or a burst of pressurized air. Any discomfort, however, is short-lived and the session will only last between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on individual needs.

Cleaning and Application of Specialty Products

Removing the gel-when applicable-and cleaning the skin signals the end of a session. To calm the heat sensation and to protect the skin, a moisturizer is carefully applied to the entire treatment area, followed by a mineral sunscreen. Occasionally, and at the discretion of staff, skin may be left in the open air to recover, which is most often the case for the treatment of pigment spots.

Cost of treatment

Treatment prices vary based on your individual needs and the specific procedure performed. To learn more about pricing, we invite you to contact your clinic or schedule a consultation with our experts.

Follow-up & maintenance

It normally takes between 2 and 5 sessions with minimum one-month intervals to see optimal results, depending on your skin’s initial condition. This is due to your skin’s built-in memory-it remembers lesions as far back as 10 years. It is therefore important to combine the therapeutic effects of light to help improve your complexion and to significantly correct spots. Subsequently, a light yearly maintenance session will ensure that your results are preserved over time.

Contraindications

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should postpone this type of treatment, as well as anyone who has been exposed to sunlight in the months before or after each session. Sunbeds/tanning booths, the use of self-tanning products and photo-sensitizing medication are all forbidden.
