At Dermapure Saskatoon, we provide sclerotherapy, an effective treatment for reducing the appearance of varicose and spider veins. This non-surgical procedure involves the injection of a special solution directly into the veins, causing them to collapse and gradually fade from view as the body naturally absorbs them.
The procedure is minimally invasive, and you can resume your daily activities immediately afterward, making it a convenient option for those with a busy lifestyle. Our experienced medical professionals will assess your specific needs and tailor the treatment to ensure the best possible results.
A consultation with one of our specialists* is required prior to the treatment. During this consultation, we use ultrasound Doppler technology to precisely evaluate the veins and develop a personalized treatment plan that prioritizes both safety and effectiveness.
*Please be aware that consultation fees apply, as with any medical consultation.
At Dermapure, our team of experienced physicians is dedicated to providing world-class care and expertise in aesthetic medicine. Focusing on enhancing natural beauty, we prioritize treatments that deliver subtle yet impactful results tailored to each individual’s unique needs.
While sclerotherapy can significantly improve varicose vein concerns, it’s important to note that outcomes can vary depending on the patient. All images shown are for reference only and do not guarantee specific results.
During your consultation, ultrasound is used to map the veins and discover the source of pressure causing the varicose veins. Often the source of the spider or varicose veins are too deep to see with the naked eye. This consultation stage allows for the development of a safe, accurate and effective treatment plan for lasting results. As with any medical consultation, current fees apply.
Before and after photos are an important step in the treatment process, as it allows for visualization of the evolution of your results over time.
Lasting 20 minutes, sclerotherapy treatment may give rise to a slight tingling or a feeling of heat during the session. This sensation disappears quickly after treatment. As the treatment involves injection into the veins, naturally some bruising should be anticipated. Bruising due to any cause on the legs generally resolves over 3 weeks, and patients should refrain from unprotected sun exposure until the bruises clear.
Starting at $200
*Consultation fee with a physician may apply.
At your initial consultation, the physician will determine how many treatments are required per leg. The number of sclerotherapy treatments necessary depends on the extent of the vein disease and we are limited to the quantity of medication per visit. Closure of the affected veins can be visible within several days however treated veins tend to fade within a few weeks to several months. Support stockings are recommended to promote healthy circulation in the lower limbs and prevent and minimize recurrence. Patients can return to most usual activities post treatment.
Sclerotherapy is contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as a known allergy to the sclerotic agent used. Special consideration is required in people with medical conditions that make them more vulnerable such as hypercoagulability (blood clotting), a history of a deep venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.
Varicose veins on the legs, ankles and feet can be treated with sclerotherapy.
