Facelift without surgery thanks to ultherapy

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when our face looks tired and flabby. This is nothing but collagen loss, which is responsible for aging and causes an overall sagging of the skin. Surgical intervention definitely improves the contours of the face through its drastic and permanent nature, but the associated risks scare many people off. Today, however, it’s possible to lift sagging skin without invasive methods thanks to ultherapy. Ulthéra® is a technological platform approved by Health Canada to tighten the neck, face, and cleavage, as well as the eyebrows and the contours of the eyes, without cutting, needles, or recovery! What is this treatment all about, and what is its value on the facelift market?

Ultherapy treatment: How does it work?
Ulthéra® works by issuing micro-focused ultrasonic waves. Using an ultrasound probe positioned on the skin, the technician examines the subcutaneous layers to identify the treatable areas and the depth of action. It then emits focused ultrasound to three distinct depths – up to 4.5 mm – where plastic surgeons cut during facial surgery. The idea is to create, through the heat, thousands of little attachment points in strategic areas to cause tissue retraction.

This type of thermal “aggression” will also activate the production of new collagen fibres and stimulate the skin regeneration process. A typical session lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, and is not without discomfort. Tylenol tablets may be taken before the session to guarantee some comfort. After the treatment, you may notice some redness and sometimes a few bruises, and your skin may be hypersensitive. All these effects are temporary and usually disappear over the next few days.

What are the benefits of such a treatment?
Redefined contours, a reduced double chin, lifted eyelids, and a smooth neckline, naturally and without any surgery or injections. A single treatment is generally sufficient, and over 90% of patients notice results immediately after the treatment. The positive effects generally reach their maximum intensity in the 2 to 3 months following the treatment. For lasting effects, we recommend a treatment every two years. Unlike technologies such as the laser, Ulthéra® treatment is effective for all skin types, regardless of pigmentation. There’s also no recommendation against sun exposure.

Ultherapy is therefore a new way of performing facelifts. Gone are the days of extended recovery and a disfigured face for several weeks. Those who were afraid of surgery finally have a winning alternative!
